Our Five Year Mission: To Go Where No New Artist Had Gone Before

announcements, journal - No Comments » - Posted on July, 25 at 9:55 am

I just joined www.BlogCatalog.com and had to write a general summary of our blog’s purpose. It really made me think because, unlike many bloggers today we’ve been in action sharing news of the music industry and the new ‘NDstry’ for years now, and I thought our mission had changed a good bit over time, but it hasn’t; only our methods and specific annual goals, which changed every few months as the NDstry developed.  But I thought I would go ahead and post the revised mini version of what we’re about, for those who happen by this newly entitled Ministertainment Magazine, or have only recently joined Rebourne Artists Network.  Enjoy and I hope this helps you understand more about our history and when and why we converted to being a resource and reporting ‘magazine’ now instead of a full fledged booking and promotion organization.

Rebourne Artists Network kicked off in 2002 with a goal of breaking down walls between new independent music artists and the industry at large, to bring artists together into one network where they could make a larger impact and gain strength in numbers, and to advance the whole ‘indie’ movement still largely unrecognized by serious media, and focus my efforts on positive impact music - those using their gifts to impact our world in a positive way. Back then there were no social networks and only two band promotional sites which were limited, cost money, or featured vulgar music. Most of our bands have strong moral values and were hesitant to send fans to websites with vulgar music and lude advertisements. Rebourne filled the gap so big that we grew from 9 to 75 in months, 150 in a few more, then 250 and eventually over 750. But by that time so many other social networks and music promotional sites were established with big bucks invested in development tools, that we could no longer keep up with the expectation levels of bands being spoiled by the new onslaught of helper websites, many of whom turned out to be wolves setup to prey on vulnerable new indies. So we settled into our current role of resourcing by passing along important music industry news and providing updates and recommendations on recording and distribution, venue contacts for booking, and studio/cd releases from artists, studios, and producers who register with us. Our website www.rebourne.net and our blogcast are fully open to the public at no cost. Many venues and event planners find it especially useful in locating fresh new talent in their areas our on tour, for their upcoming events.
